Associate Director of the Institute for the Future of Education, Tecnológico de Monterrey
José Escamilla is associate director of the Institute for the Future of Education (https://tec.mx/es/ife) at Tecnológico de Monterrey. The purpose of the Institute is to generate, transfer and disseminate applicable knowledge on educational innovation, connecting, inspiring and accompanying those who seek disruptive solutions for the future of higher education and lifelong learning.
He was Director of TecLabs – Learning Reimagined, Tecnológico de Monterrey disruptive innovation unit whose objective was finding out how higher education will be in 2030. TecLabs was responsible for articulating the research, innovation, and entrepreneurship processes for Educational Innovation in Tecnológico de Monterrey. He was the Dean of the Graduate School of Education. He has worked in the use of technologies in education, artificial intelligence in education and other educational innovation projects. He holds a Computer Science Engineering Degree from Tecnológico de Monterrey, and a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble.
He is chair of the Global Higher Education and Research (GHEAR) Global Challenge Steering Group for The Worldwide Universities Network. He is a member of the International advisory committee of the Institute for Ethical AI in Education, the Digital Credentials Leadership Council, and the Coursera Council. He is active in his Edutrends podcast (https://observatory.tec.mx/edutrendspodcast) and writing about educational innovation and the use of technology in higher education and lifelong learning.
