Raquel Bernal has been the Provost of the Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Colombia) since 2022, and a tenured professor in the School of Economics, where she has worked since 2006. She has also served as Academic Vice Provost (2019-2022), Director of the Center for Economic Development Studies-CEDE (for its initials in Spanish) and has been a member of the Superior Council. Before coming to the Universidad de los Andes, she worked as an Assistant Professor of Economics at Northwestern University in the United States. Her research focuses on the areas of Social Policy, Education, Early Childhood, Human Capital, Household Economics and Labor Economics. She is an expert in impact evaluation and has worked closely with the Colombian government since 2006 to improve public policies in education and early childhood.
